Almost anyone who has earlobes that are stretched out, torn, ripped, or otherwise damaged are ideal candidates for earlobe repair at our Encinitas, CA office. During your consultation, our provider will examine your ears and review your medical history to ensure that earlobe repair is right for you.

Earlobe Repair Technique

An earlobe repair surgery is complete as an outpatient procedure with local anesthesia. This means that you don't have to be put to sleep (general anesthesia), and you'll be able to go home when your provider is finished with the one-hour procedure. They begin by making a small incision and then remove any excess tissue and/or scar tissue. Then the earlobe is stitched closed to achieve a new, natural-looking shape. In most cases, both ears are repaired, ensuring they look symmetrical. When the surgery is complete, the ear(s) are bandaged.

Recovery after Earlobe Repair

When your earlobe repair surgery is finished, and you are cleared to leave, you'll be able to go home to rest and begin recovery. Our team will provide recovery instructions. It's very important to not touch, pick at, or scratch the ears. It is also recommended that you sleep upright and not on the ears for the first few nights. Patients may experience tenderness or mild swelling that usually goes away after two weeks as their ears heal.

No, most patients don't find the procedure painful. Before they begin, our provider will completely numb your earlobes with a local anesthetic. Some patients have reported feeling a slight sense of pressure or tugging, but it didn't hurt.

Do I need to have both ears done or just one?

In most cases, both earlobes are treated. In cases where only one earlobe is being addressed, typically from an injury, Dr. Nanos will determine if treating both earlobes will achieve the best, most symmetric, aesthetic outcome.

How long does an earlobe repair take?

Most Earlobe Repairs can be completed in about an hour.

Crisps are an easy and delicious dessert for a long holiday weekend 😉 filled with loads of vitamin C and some fiber 🙌Try this easy recipe for your Memorial Day weekend BERRIES 7-8 cups your favorite berries 3 Tbsp maple syrup 2 Tbsp arrowroot starch or cornstarch 1 Tbsp lemon juice CRISP 1 cup almond flour or almond meal 2/3 rolled oats 1 cup roughly chopped pecans or any other nuts you like 1/2 cup coconut sugar 1/2 tsp sea salt 4 Tbsp coconut oil or butter 2 Tbsp maple syrup Mix all the berry ingredients in one bowl and the crisp ingredients in another bowl. In a 9 x 13 baking dish add the fruit and cover with the crisp. Pop it in the oven at 350 for 45 minutes and enjoy!
